Tips and Variations
Here are a few ways to easily change up this caramel apple french toast casserole to make it work for you!
- Nuts: You don’t have to use pecans! Try using almonds or walnuts if you prefer those instead. Or, leave them out altogether to make this french toast casserole completely nut free.
- Caramel Sweetened Condensed Milk Substitute: If you can’t find caramel condensed milk, add 3 T. brown sugar to regular sweetened condensed milk, and use as directed.
- Use day old bread: To make it crispy or harder, the thicker pieces are better and using day old bread creates a hard side.
- Don’t cover with foil: Leave this dish uncovered when you are baking it.
