We can’t get enough pie around our house! For some people, pie is reserved for the holidays (especially Thanksgiving) but around here… We bake pie all year long! Because we love it so much, I have rounded up some of my very favorite tried and true pie recipes. These ones are the best of the best. Sometimes, I have the time to bake my pie crust and filling from scratch. Other times, I need something quick and easy. Pie Baking Tips
Because this pie roundup has so many different kinds of pie, I wanted to give you all of my tips and tricks so that each and every one of your pies turns out perfectly!
- Cold Ingredients: Keeping your ingredients cold before you bake is key to a delicious pie crust! This helps you achieve that perfectly golden and flakey pie crust!
- Don’t Use Too Much Flour: When rolling out the dough, try using as little flour as possible. If you work the dough too much and add in too. much extra flour, the dough will become tough and not bake properly.
- Blind Bake the Crust: If you are making a cream pie or a custard pie, you must bake your pie crust ahead of time. You can find out all about how to blind bake a crust here.
- Use the Bottom Rack: When you are baking a pie, it’s always best to place it on the lowest rack in your oven. This helps prevent your pie crust from becoming soggy on the bottom.
